The fountain of Goura
The fountain of Goura is located on the lower side of the church of Agioi Anargyroi on the northeastern side of Metsovo. Its Vlach name means "spout" and describes the form of the fountain.
The fountain is stone built and has a single spout. It has a wooder roof covered with slate. It is destingushed for its elegance as it blends harmoniously with its surroundings.
Its inscription reads: "In Messovo May 10, 1872. At the expense of Mr. Georgios Averoff, in Alexandria".
The girls of Metsovo used to go for walks near this fountain. On 27 July 1884 the gang of bandits of Thimio-Gakis and Fleggas abducted Evdokia Kolaki Averoff, daughter of the Metsovo aristocrat, during a walk with her frients. She is known in folk tradition as "Vasilarchontissa" (~Royal Lady)
