Gkina’s watermill

The watermill of Gkina (or Guina) is located in a relatively short distance from the center of Metsovo. The watermill on the river “Arahthos” is one of the famous mills of the area. It is connected to Metsovo and the adjacent monastery of the Dormition of Theotokos (Mother of God) through a picturesque stone path.
The Gkina mill, for many decades, used the power of abundant river water to turn it into mechanical energy for grinding cereals of the wider region. It is characterized as a Historical Preservable Monument. After its total renovation in 1997, a permanent guard provides visitors with basic sightseeing information.
